Big news for the protection of elections in Michigan! Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (who will join us briefly at the upcoming membership meeting on June 6) has announced her office will send applications for an Absentee Ballot to every registered voter. Watch your mailbox! And talk to your neighbors and family– most folks are not used to voting absentee, and some may need a hand with the application.

This application is for both the August primary and the November general elections.

You must:

  • Check the box to receive a ballot for BOTH August and November
  • If you’re not already on the Permanent Absentee Voter list, check the box to automatically receive your application before each future election
  • Take in or mail your application to your City or Township Clerk.
  • To find the address of your clerk: go to
      • Enter your information, and you will be able to:
        • see the status of your application and your ballot
        • find the address of your clerk
  • You can also scan your application and email it if your clerk has an email address listed.
