On Friday, July 29th, a post was published on the Washtenaw County Party’s TikTok page regarding Democratic Congressman Andy Levin that was not approved and was completely inappropriate. The post has been deleted and proper steps are being taken to ensure that nothing like this happens again.
On behalf of the Washtenaw County Democratic Party, I honestly and sincerely apologize to the Jewish community and anyone else who was rightfully offended by the post. It does not represent who we are as Democrats or thoughtful, caring, compassionate members of society. We are so much better than this.
The post has been deleted and our social media channels will be shut down until we establish specific policies regarding vetting of posts on these channels from this moment forward.
This should never have happened and, as the County Party Chair, the fault is mine. Social media publishing policies & procedures should have already been in place that would have prevented this and they were not.
Once again, I extend my sincere apologies to anyone who was rightfully offended by this post. It will NOT happen again.
