March for George: We Seek Justice Together
June 2 @ 10:00 am
A multicultural march in memory of George Floyd will take place Tuesday June 2 at 10 am, gathering on State Street in front of Sava’s. It is being organized by Mahoud Issa. Ann Arbor Chief of Police Michael Cox and members of the Ann Arbor police will be joining in.
Marches and rallies have been ongoing in Ann Arbor/Ypsi in response to racial police brutality and the biases of our justice system. Last week’s assault on Sha’teina Grady El, for refusing to step back as police are said to have attempted to enter her daughter’s house without a warrant, has sparked a large response, growing even more after the horrific murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Monday’s rally and march at the Diag, organized by Trisch’e Duckworth and others from Survivors Speak, saw 900-1000 protestors peacefully assemble, and was addressed by Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, State Senator Jeff Irwin, State Rep. Yousef Rabhi and others.
