West Cross Cider Festival (Ypsilanti)
October 12 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The West Cross Cider Festival highlights the great food and local music of Ypsilanti. Musical performers include Ypsilanti’s Los Drogos, Mercury Salad, Annie Oats, Lucy Lujah and DJ Mikael Dunn. Only West Cross restaurants and coffee shops are permitted to sell food. The hard cider comes from many of the best cider makers in Michigan. “It’s the perfect fall festival celebrating both Ypsilanti and Michigan,” says co-organizer Julie Palmer, owner of JEM Events and festival co-founder.
“Our goal is to create a positive experience for people so that they want to come back and spend time in any of the quality restaurants and cafes here,” says Julie , “Hosting a hard cider festival became the perfect way, and creating everything was easier because of my partner, Jesse Kranyak, who owns the Wurst Bar.”
The environment also matters. Festival organizers did away with plastic cups last year and invested in 4 ounce glass mason jars. Attendees will enjoy taking home the unique souvenirs. Instead of plastic snow fencing, organizers hired a security firm to set up the perimeter with metal fence sections.
This year’s festival on October 12th expects up to 1500 people this year. Attendees will once again gather on College Place between W. Cross and Emmett streets. For more information, visit www.westcrossciderfest.com.
