The Washtenaw County Democratic Party (WCDP) will be holding an Endorsement Meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, August 11th beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is the meeting where the WCDP will choose the candidates that we will endorse for the November 2020 General Election. Pre-registration is required (see below.) You will need to download the Zoom desktop app HERE or the mobile app HERE in order to participate. NOTE: You will NOT be able to participate via the web app. (That means you will not be able to simply go to Zoom.com in your browser.) Registration will begin now and close at 5:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
In order to participate in this meeting, you will need to have been a member of the Michigan Democratic Party (MDP) for at least 30 days, meaning you will have had to be a member before July 12th, 2020. This 30-day requirement is waived for Precinct Delegates and Democratic elected officials, but they must become a member no later than 5:30 p.m. on August 11th and send proof of their membership by forwarding their email receipt to email@example.com. Only members who have preregistered and had their membership verified will be allowed into the meeting since voting will take place.
When you pre-register for the Zoom meeting, we will check your eligibility before sending you information on how to log into the meeting. Please, pre-register early to assist us in checking people in. If too many people register at the last minute, the meeting will be delayed. You can register anytime from now up until 5:30 p.m. on the 11th.
If you are a candidate wishing to receive our endorsement, you will need to ask for it by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Monday, August 10th. You need to be a member of the MDP in order to be considered. Candidates will be given two minutes to address our membership before each vote. More details on our endorsement requirements can be found in Article 9 of our bylaws. We are modifying section 9.5.c to accommodate the virtual meeting. Voting will be done by Zoom polling instead.
