Here is Rep. Lasinski’s statement:

“While much of the news is focused on baseless accusations of “election fraud” and the refusal to acknowledge the results of our presidential election, I wanted to share some good news.

I have been chosen by my colleagues to be the House Democratic Leader for the 101st Legislature beginning in January.

I’m humbled by their trust and am ready to take on this immensely important position. They’ve put their trust in me to represent them in negotiations with Republican Leadership and our Governor, while providing pivotal support to my House Democratic Caucus members.

In this position, I will be working closely with our Governor, setting the agenda and putting Michiganders first. My priorities will still be getting this pandemic under control, ensuring affordable healthcare, investing in our infrastructure and supporting our small businesses.

I will continue to put people over politics and work to ensure that Michigan is a place of opportunity for everyone.
