Theresa Reid, Chair of the Washtenaw County Democratic Party

Greetings! We Michigan Democrats are reveling in our electoral success of 2022, when – for the first time in 40 years – we swept all three branches of state government: executive, legislative, and judicial. Years of hard work made this success possible.

We need to keep our foot on the gas. America faces a resurgent threat from right-wing extremists that threatens the foundations of our democracy. Here in solid-blue Washtenaw County it’s easy to feel complacent. But we leave votes on the table in every election, which can have dire consequences. In 2016, when Donald Trump won Michigan by 10,704 votes, more than 50,000 Dem-leaning Washtenaw County residents didn’t bother to vote for President.

In 2024, we must:

  • Defend and expand our two-seat majority in each of our legislative chambers.
  • Elect Justice Kyra Harris Bolden to a full term on the Michigan Supreme Court.
  • Elect a Dem to the MSC seat currently held by Snyder appointee David Viviano.
  • Keep the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Debbie Stabenow.

To do all that, we’re working together on many fronts to deliver every single vote available. We invite you to learn more about what we do. Join our monthly membership meetings, where members learn from local experts and meet and question electeds and candidates. Sign up for our informative weekly newsletter. Explore this website to see who we are and how we work. Or jump right in and volunteer!

We’re “Here for good”: year-round, every year, we’re your neighbors working hard as volunteers to advance our shared values in the political arena.

We hope you’ll join us.
